Welcome

Welcome to the screenwriter's blog for "Frequently Asked Questions About Time Travel" a farcical science fiction comedy feature film currently in production with HBO and BBC Films.

It stars Anna Faris (Scary Movie series) as a girl from the future, Chris O'Dowd (The IT Crowd) and Marc Wootton (Shirley Ghostman) as a couple of geeks and Dean Lennox Kelly (Shameless) as their cynical friend, who try to unravel a paradox in a British pub.

It's being directed by Gareth Carrivick (Little Britain, The Smoking Room) and written by first time writer Jamie Mathieson. That would be me then.

I'll keep this at the top of the blog for new visitors but keep checking below for regular updates.

Jamie, this post says "posted by Jamie Mathieson at 08:59 on 01 December 2009" ?!! and in the Archives too?

Time?

How spooky....

Do I get a prize or something for spotting that? (It reminds me of something I read recently about someone getting a text message dated the year 2119 - i.e. we are being contacted from the future)...

Changing the date to the future was the only way to keep this post at the top of the blog...

But you can feel smug for spotting it.

Hmm so there I sat in a flat in Smisby wondering why my old friend JM never visited me anymore on his travels between Snotts (Dave Berryheartism)and Leicester. I mused that perhaps now I was a dirty divorcee and he was newly married, I had become an outcast. But with an attack of nostalgia and an hour to kill, I turned to the internet, and as my hands hovvered over the keyboard, I resisted the urge to search for porn, and instead typed in your name. Imagine my shock to find my old mucker was now a glamorous screenwriter! Struck first with enormous pride i eagerly soaked up everything I could of your success. My emotions quickly turned to jealousy and finally deep-seated resentment. I am now in a clinic for the criminally insane after being discovered on the roof of Smisby Manor, naked and giggling selotaping photos of your head onto live pigeons and setting them free shouting "leave me just leave me!, you all leave me in the end!"
I hope you're pleased with yourself.

"If I can't have admiration, jealousy will more than suffice."

Hope you are well - I can't find Teatowel online anymore - does it still exist?

Remember me to Techheads and The Berry Hart.

Hey dude,

You don't know me, im not a mental or anything. I saw a Pre-view of your film at the SoHo Hotel the other night. If you ever get to read the feedback forms, im the guy who praised you for the fanboy stuff and mentioned Red Dwarf/Twilight zone more than once in the focus group. I believe it was possible that you were in the screening or at least the Q&A afterwards so to make it easier, i was the ginger guy at the front. Anyways, just wanted to say that even though i said you may have nicked a bit here and there from two of the best shows ever created in the world, i really enjoyed the film. I laughed, i "Cheered" when Firefly was metioned and im about to give it seven stars at IMDB. See, im a screenwriter too, and i am finding it hard to get anything done in this country with my work, can't get the money, can't get an agent, dang. I can't wait till i get to see the finished product at my local cineworld. Anyway man, just wanted to say a big congrats on getting this made, it's funny as fuck. If you feel like chatting, drop me a line at ..thedarkpoet@gmail.com.

later skater.

Could anyone tell me what sort of budget the movie had? I can't seem to find it anywhere else on the web.

Jamie Mathieson said...

The budget hasn't been released yet. I know but can't tell. It's in my head along with all the other things I know but can't tell. It's pretty crowded in there.

Hey, Jamie. I just wondered if there's any news on the movie? Like the release or anything. By the way, is it going to be in cinema's or just on TV?

Jamie Mathieson said...

No date set for release yet, but tentatively end of this year or beginning of next. And it will be in cinemas, released by Lionsgate in the UK and Picturehouse in the US.
